Electronic Seat Stats

Each issue CAD Spaghetti provides market intelligence from our database of nearly 15,000 UK CAD/CAM using sites.  We'll keep this short and sweet - we have analysed the design solutions used at 1,813 company sites where electronic engineering is the sole business activity.

The chart below shows the 15 design solutions installed at the highest percentage of sites within our sample.

*Vendor name given due to number of interviewees who didn't identify the exact product name from the suite available from Cadence and Mentor Graphics.

Around a third of our sample have solutions that are not specifically developed for electronic design.

The second chart shows the total number of seats installed within our sample for each design solution; the change in position of the products of Cadence and Mentor Graphics indicates a high seats per site ratio compared to others listed.

The third chart below shows the the average number of seats per site within the user-base of the 15 design solutions.  Zuken's CADSTAR and the products of Mentor Graphics and Cadence are more likely to be the solution of choice for sites needing seven seats or more, while the vast majority of sites using Easy-PC and BoardMaker have only one seat.
